Repairs & Servicing
Domestic machines should be kept in good working order. If you regularly clean and oil your machine, a shop service may not be necessary for five years or so.
If you do little or no maintenance to your machine, we will need to see it more often!
Machines like to be used … the lubrication is then continually distributed while it is in motion. When a machine is left to stand idle for a long time, the lubrication will dry and exposed parts will become stiff. On starting up again, you may find the machine hesitant and noisy.
We would recommend that you run your machine periodically, even if you are not undertaking a sewing project.
We recommend you have your machines serviced every 5 years. This enables us to make small timing adjustments, clean out tension units, balance tensions and check the machine’s functions.
Don’t wait for a service to become a repair!
Repairs are dealt with at the shop. Estimates are free.
Russell is our in-house engineer/technician … he has many years of experience over a wide range of machines. Our servicing turn-over time is never more than a week, usually a matter of a couple of days – unless of course, we are awaiting delivery of a part for your repair!
See the "How to find us" heading on our home page. Servicing and repairs are accepted without appointment – but avoid Wednesdays, when we have Sewing Classes.
